I mean I knew it was going to happen, but still! This took one and a half years! Anyway, my thoughts?\nGameplay\nThe Basics\nSo, you're a yellow cube that can jump over spikes and many other things with a single button press. Pretty simple stuff, we've had this concept for almost 15 years now. We've also had the idea of adding new things to this formula such as being able to jump mid-air and flipping upside-down. And this game goes in a similar direction, but does more. There's four worlds, each having 3 required levels, 1 hard optional level, and 1 bossfight. Pretty simple stuff. You're taught how to jump, and then the game throws a whole bunch of stuff at you, something new for almost each level. Looking back at this game, this concept reminds me a lot about Pizza Tower. We learn the basics, and then we're introduced to something new for almost every level. And I like it. The bossfights are simple enough, and the optional level offers an extra challenge for the players that feel like they want to do more. I also like the way they did the checkpoints; instead of you placing them down, they're placed down for you to restart from if you fail a certain part. It reminds me a lot of Super Meat Boy Forever, which I guess is a good thing, because this is The Impossible Game we're talking about; it's supposed to be hard.\nPower-ups & Mechanics\nThe power-ups in this game are simple but fun to mess around with. First, there's a double jump; don't think I need to say much else about it. Then, there's a gun that can destroy almost anything, which is super cool. There's also a jetpack, which is kind of a revision of Geometry Dash's ship mode. There's also the \"Player Stack,\" which does exactly as it says it does, and provides for some kind of interesting gameplay. There's also a skateboard to act as a fun lil minigame power-up, which is actually cool and creative. There's also a punch glove that does the same thing as the gun, but it's short-range and can destroy more than just one block. Also, the mechanics are cool, like going in reverse, jumping to change the environment, enemies, collectibles, flip platforms, springs, portals, block/spike flips, arrows as another lil minigame thing, and speed changes... there's just so much!\nOnline\nThe fact that you can unlock skins and other stuff to use both in the main game and online is pretty cool. And the way royale mode works a lot like Fall Guys, which is cool. The friend battle mode is also like a custom lobby, so that's neato. Problem, though. Don't actually try to do online mode, though. Almost no one is on the servers nowadays.\nThe Editor\nIt's kinda just your average level editor that does have sharing capabilities, but not much. Nothing really more to talk about. I mean, except for the weird level saving system. Seriously, if you want to save a level, you have to \"export\" it. And by \"export,\" I mean get a big block of text copied to your clipboard, and you better put it somewhere so you can \"import\" it later. Oh, and the only way I could find to share your levels in this game is through userlevels.com , which hasn't been updated for a year now! You can tell because it still has Will You Snail? support, and that game got a level editor update with Steam Workshop support, so there's no need for that now! Anyway, it works, but no one's gonna use it.\nMusic\nda music in dis gam r bangers, nuf said. Ok, but seriously though, if you're a fan of games with music in them, this game will give that experience back to you and then some. They have some pretty cool song from famous Geometry Dash artists like Panda Eyes, meganeko, ColBreaks, and even Creo. And can't forget MDK! Hell, they even have artists and songs from Just Shapes & Beats like Avenza (who made Wicked), and Cool Friends!\nThe Port\nThe idea to port this game from mobile to Steam was a good idea, and this was probably expected by a lot of people. And I gotta say, it's a pretty good port. Nothing was cut unexpectedly, the account system works great both ways, and the performance didn't get a downgrade per se. But also, that's the problem. We're talking about a mobile port to PC here, of course it's going to feel the same way it did on mobile if not better. But it doesn't feel better, it feels exactly the same. I mean, it could be worse, but it also could be so much better. Lagspikes are just so common, the textures feel so low quality on PC even at the highest settings, the pop-ups are the freaking default ones, there's no real \"fullscreen\" feature, not even controller support is allowed. All of those things were fine to deal with on mobile, but on PC it just feels... sloppy and unpolished. Like Fluke Games just copy-pasted the mobile version to the PC version and said, \"Yep, this looks fine.\" Ya know?\nPersonal Suggestions\nOne of the main things that didn't make sense to me while playing is that in the first world, the game goes from 2/10 difficulty, to 3/10, and then straight to 5/10, and then back to 4/10 for the boss. I just don't feel like that's good for a difficulty curve. First of all, why can't the starting level be nerfed to 1/10? This is the first level we're talking about. Also, I feel like the sudden skip in difficulty is a little weird. So, maybe nerf that level? I don't really have a complaint to going back a difficulty for the boss. I mean, it's the beginner boss, it feels fair to have that slightly easier than at least one regular level you've done because a boss works different than a normal level. And World 2 and World 4 are fine by this point. Sure the bosses are on higher difficulties, but that's to be expected. Cool. But what about World 3? Well, buckle up, because this world is where any idea of a difficulty curve is thrown out the window. Get this, it goes from 2/10 to 4/10 to 1/10 to 5/10. WHY?! Like, I get it, Lighthouse and Accelerated are meant to be a lot more free than Frontier, but still! Why can't you at least put them in a good order?! Anyway, the rest is fine, just update the pop-ups, add a real \"fullscreen\" feature, update the textures, make the game run smoothly, make an actual level sharing system, and we should be ok.\nMy Personal Thoughts\nSo yeah, The Impossible Game 2 is a good game if you like Geometry Dash and like it's music. However, you've gotta keep in mind that this game isn't perfect for PC. It's mainly for mobile as a fun lil rage enducing sequel to a rage enducing game back in 2009 that inspired another indie game called Geometry Dash. Personally though, I never thought it would take this long to port this game to Steam, especially considering how too perfectly copied it is to the mobile version. Buy it, it's only slightly higher priced than Geometry Dash, especially if you've got the mobile version where you can try this game FOR FREE... if they're still doing that.\nNOTE: There is a way to go fullscreen, just press F11. Really wish that they would point that out, though. (also thx GlitchedLime)","html":"

Well, this finally came to Steam! I mean I knew it was going to happen, but still! This took one and a half years! Anyway, my thoughts?

Gameplay

The Basics

So, you're a yellow cube that can jump over spikes and many other things with a single button press. It reminds me a lot of Super Meat Boy Forever, which I guess is a good thing, because this is The Impossible Game we're talking about; it's supposed to be hard.

Power-ups & Mechanics

The power-ups in this game are simple but fun to mess around with. First, there's a double jump; don't think I need to say much else about it. Then, there's a gun that can destroy almost anything, which is super cool. There's also a jetpack, which is kind of a revision of Geometry Dash's ship mode. There's also the "Player Stack," which does exactly as it says it does, and provides for some kind of interesting gameplay. There's also a skateboard to act as a fun lil minigame power-up, which is actually cool and creative. There's also a punch glove that does the same thing as the gun, but it's short-range and can destroy more than just one block.
