The \"developer\", Tero Lunkka/Valkeala Software, took the Stylized Castle game assets from the real developers, AleksandrIvanov, changed the name, and dumped the result onto Steam. They're attempting to scam people into buying this, so they can get your money for someone else's work.\nTero Lunkka/Valkeala Software has shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:\n- \"Aliens Dont Exist\" = Alien Character - Free Sprite developed by Craftpix\n- \"Sad Virus Town\" = POLYGON - City Pack developed by Synty Studios\n- \"Sad Virus Darkland\" = Stylized \"Graveyard\" developed by AleksandrIvanov\n- \"Fancy the Frog\" = Pixel Adventure 1 developed by Pixel Frog\n- \"Sad Virus Cave\" = Stylized Modular Crystal Mine developed by Scale X\n- \"Sad Virus Asia\" = Stylized Japanese Temple developed by AleksandrIvanov\n- \"Survival Isolation\" = Easy Survival RPG developed by Easy Systems\n- \"Trump Cake Mania\" = POLYGON - City Pack developed by Synty Studios\n- \"Super Clown Puzzle\" = Unreal Engine 4 3D Platformer Project developed by Unreal University\n- \"Super Clown Obstacles\" = Unreal Engine 4 3D Platformer Project developed by Unreal University\n- \"Candy Golf\" = Mini Golf Template developed by GoFlood\n- \"Cadoom\" = Tokyo Stylized Environment developed by Shua\n- \"Office Racer\" = Polygon Office developed by Synty Studios\n- \"Lost Princess: Winterland\" = Polygon Vikings Pack developed by Synty Games\n- \"Prison Puzzle\" = Ultimate FPS Puzzle Kit developed by FirstContent\n- \"Nash Racing 2\" = Advanced Tuning Cars developed by James Novih\n- \"Nash Racing\" = Advanced Tuning Cars developed by James Novih\n- \"Candy Renovation\" = Renovation Simulator developed by Manudog\n- \"The Warrior Of Treasures\" = Dynamic Combat System developed by Grzegorz Szewczyk\n- \"Cyborg Invasion Shooter\" = Third Person Shooter Kit developed by Epic Games\n- \"Sad Virus Land\" = Stylized Windmill Valley developed by StylArts\n- \"Lawnmower Game: Pinball\" = Pinball Construction Kit developed by Epic Games\n- \"Candy Puzzle\" = Platformer 3 - Chocolate developed by ithappy\n- \"Lawnmower Game 2026\" = Assetsville Town developed by Assetsville\nThe products that result from asset flips aren't \"real\" games. They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. Warning: Asset Flip!
\n

Sad Virus Castle is an asset flip, what Valve calls a "fake game". The "developer", Tero Lunkka/Valkeala Software, took the Stylized Castle game assets from the real developers, AleksandrIvanov, changed the name, and dumped the result onto Steam. They're attempting to scam people into buying this, so they can get your money for someone else's work.

Tero Lunkka/Valkeala Software has shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:

"Aliens Dont Exist" = Alien Character - Free Sprite developed by Craftpix
"Sad Virus Town" = POLYGON - City Pack developed by Synty Studios
"Sad Virus Darkland" = Stylized "Graveyard" developed by AleksandrIvanov
"Fancy the Frog" = Pixel Adventure 1 developed by Pixel Frog
"Sad Virus Cave" = Stylized Modular Crystal Mine developed by Scale X
"Sad Virus Asia" = Stylized Japanese Temple developed by AleksandrIvanov
"Survival Isolation" = Easy Survival RPG developed by Easy Systems
"Trump Cake Mania" = POLYGON - City Pack developed by Synty Studios
"Super Clown Puzzle" = Unreal Engine 4 3D Platformer Project developed by Unreal University
"Super Clown Obstacles" = Unreal Engine 4 3D Platformer Project developed by Unreal University
"Candy Golf" = Mini Golf Template developed by GoFlood
"Cadoom" = Tokyo Stylized Environment developed by Shua
"Office Racer" = Polygon Office developed by Synty Studios
"Lost Princess: Winterland" = Polygon Vikings Pack developed by Synty Games
"Prison Puzzle" = Ultimate FPS Puzzle Kit developed by FirstContent
"Nash Racing 2" = Advanced Tuning Cars developed by James Novih
"Nash Racing" = Advanced Tuning Cars developed by James Novih
"Candy Renovation" = Renovation Simulator developed by Manudog
"The Warrior Of Treasures" = Dynamic Combat System developed by Grzegorz Szewczyk
"Cyborg Invasion Shooter" = Third Person Shooter Kit developed by Epic Games
"Sad Virus Land" = Stylized Windmill Valley developed by StylArts
"Lawnmower Game: Pinball" = Pinball Construction Kit developed by Epic Games
"Candy Puzzle" = Platformer 3 - Chocolate developed by ithappy
"Lawnmower Game 2026" = Assetsville Town developed by Assetsville

The products that result from asset flips aren't "real" games. They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. In this case, "Stylized Castle" is just a basic Unreal asset pack with a simple castle scene, and doesn't have any merit as a proper, fully fledged PC game. It's just a minimum viable product, just enough to get through the non-existent quality control on Steam Direct. Not a real game.

Asset flips don't involve any professional game development. Sure, sometimes they may change a few cosmetic things, swap out different assets etc, but at heart it's functionally identical to the asset they're ripping off.

Asset flips like this are harmful to the gaming industry and to Steam because they reduce the visibility that sincerely made indie games should have, and make it harder for gamers to find real games from genuine developers.

The prime example of the stolen and plagiarized assets from Tero here is the Sucker Virus which was really created by PolyNext. But Tero wants YOUR money for PolyNext's virus asset.

The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Because this is just a fake game/cash grab scam, and due to the sheer unethical nature of the developer, you should avoid this completely. Don't reward this morally bankrupt, unethical behaviour from Tero Lunkka/Valkeala Software.

You step into the role of the “Sad Virus,” a character navigating a sparse 3D environment composed of castle structures, scattered platforms, and bits of natural scenery, all in pursuit of a straightforward goal: locating and collecting a set number of beer bottles hidden across the map. It’s the kind of premise that immediately signals what the game is aiming for—something light, slightly absurd, and intentionally uncomplicated—but it also hints at the limitations that quickly become apparent as you spend more time with it.\nThe gameplay loop is built around exploration and basic platforming, with occasional hazards placed throughout the environment to provide a sense of challenge. Spikes, moving obstacles, and jump pads are scattered across the map, encouraging players to time their movements and navigate carefully. In theory, this creates a mild layer of tension, but in practice the mechanics rarely develop beyond their initial introduction. There is little in the way of standout music or environmental soundscapes to enhance immersion, leaving the game feeling somewhat quiet and empty. This absence of strong audio feedback further contributes to the sense that the experience is more mechanical than emotional. Combined with the lack of narrative context or character development, Sad Virus Castle ends up feeling detached, offering little reason for players to become invested beyond completing the basic objective.\nOne of the more defining aspects of the game is its clear positioning as a short, low-commitment experience. It can be completed relatively quickly, making it accessible to players who want something brief and undemanding. In that sense, it succeeds at being easy to pick up and finish without frustration. However, this same brevity and simplicity also limit its staying power. There’s little incentive to replay the game once the collectibles have been gathered, and the absence of additional modes, secrets, or meaningful progression systems means the experience ends almost as soon as it begins.\nIn the broader context of indie games on Steam, Sad Virus Castle feels like a modest experimental project rather than a fully fleshed-out release. It has a clear idea and follows through on it consistently, but that idea is so minimal that it struggles to leave a lasting impression. Players who enjoy unconventional, low-budget curiosities or who are simply looking for a short and easy completion may find some value here. For most others, however, it will likely come across as too shallow to recommend beyond casual curiosity.\nRating: 5/10","html":"
