Warning: Asset Flip!

Sad Virus Asia is an asset flip, what Valve calls a "fake game". The "developer", Tero Lunkka/Valkeala Software, took the Stylized Japanese Temple game assets from the real developers, AleksandrIvanov, changed the name, and dumped the result onto Steam. They're attempting to scam people into buying this, so they can get your money for someone else's work.

Another prime example of the stolen and plagiarized assets from Tero here is the Sucker Virus which was really created by PolyNext. But Tero wants YOUR money for PolyNext's virus asset.

Tero Lunkka/Valkeala Software has shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:

"Sad Virus Town" = POLYGON - City Pack developed by Synty Studios
"The Warrior Of Treasures" = Dynamic Combat System developed by Grzegorz Szewczyk
"Lost Princess: Winterland" = Polygon Vikings Pack developed by Synty Games
"Lawnmower Game 2026" = Assetsville Town developed by Assetsville
"Sad Virus Land" = Stylized Windmill Valley developed by StylArts
"Aliens Dont Exist" = Alien Character - Free Sprite developed by Craftpix
"Sad Virus Cave" = Stylized Modular Crystal Mine developed by Scale X
"Cadoom" = Tokyo Stylized Environment developed by Shua
"Candy Puzzle" = Platformer 3 - Chocolate developed by ithappy
"Trump Cake Mania" = POLYGON - City Pack developed by Synty Studios
"Cyborg Invasion Shooter" = Third Person Shooter Kit developed by Epic Games
"Fancy the Frog" = Pixel Adventure 1 developed by Pixel Frog
"Candy Renovation" = Renovation Simulator developed by Manudog
"Survival Isolation" = Easy Survival RPG developed by Easy Systems
"Nash Racing 2" = Advanced Tuning Cars developed by James Novih
"Candy Golf" = Mini Golf Template developed by GoFlood
"Nash Racing" = Advanced Tuning Cars developed by James Novih
"Lawnmower Game: Pinball" = Pinball Construction Kit developed by Epic Games
"Office Racer" = Polygon Office developed by Synty Studios
"Prison Puzzle" = Ultimate FPS Puzzle Kit developed by FirstContent

The products that result from asset flips aren't "real" games. They lack depth and content, because they're just simplistic copies of demos or tutorials. In this case, "Stylized Japanese Temple" is just a simple Unreal Engine asset pack from FAB with a Japanese temple map, and doesn't have any merit as a proper, fully fledged PC game. It's just a minimum viable product, just enough to get through the non-existent quality control on Steam Direct. Not a real game.

Asset flips don't involve any professional game development. Sure, sometimes they may change a few cosmetic things, swap out different assets etc, but at heart it's functionally identical to the asset they're ripping off.

Asset flips like this are harmful to the gaming industry and to Steam because they reduce the visibility that sincerely made indie games should have, and make it harder for gamers to find real games from genuine developers.

The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. Because this is just a fake game/cash grab scam, and due to the sheer unethical nature of the developer, you should avoid this completely. Don't reward this morally bankrupt, unethical behaviour from Kendall Studios/Tero Lunkka

Edit: Tero once more breaches Valve guidelines about not responding to every review to spin some BS... asset stores sell assets to be used as placeholders, backdrops and to teach people how to make games. From the outset, it becomes clear that the game is built around a single, uncomplicated idea, and everything else is structured to support that narrow focus.\nThe gameplay loop is as straightforward as it gets. Players control a third-person character tasked with exploring the environment to locate a set number of hidden objects—primarily bottles—scattered across the map. Along the way, there are simple hazards such as spikes, moving traps, and environmental obstacles that require timing and basic navigation to avoid. Movement is functional, with occasional use of jump pads or elevated platforms to reach certain areas, but there is little in the way of mechanical depth or variation. The challenge is minimal, and success is largely a matter of persistence rather than skill refinement.\nExploration plays a central role, but it is driven more by necessity than curiosity. The environment offers a mix of terrain types—small villages, forested areas, and structures that hint at an Asian theme—but these elements are mostly decorative. The premise itself carries a slightly surreal quality, with the idea of collecting items to satisfy an abstract concept like a “virus,” but the game does not fully develop this into a distinct narrative or atmosphere. Instead, it presents its concept without much elaboration, resulting in an experience that feels somewhat detached. There is no strong storytelling element, and any sense of context is left largely unexplored.\nFrom a technical and visual standpoint, the game reflects its modest scope. The graphics are simple, with environments that convey their theme but lack detail and cohesion. Animations are basic, and sound design is minimal, providing only the essentials needed to support gameplay. While this keeps the game accessible and easy to run on low-end systems, it also limits its ability to create immersion or leave a strong visual impression.\nThe overall length of the game is quite short. With only a handful of objectives and no additional modes or branching paths, most players will complete it quickly. There is little incentive to return once everything has been collected, as the experience does not offer new challenges or variations. This brevity reinforces the sense that the game is more of a small-scale experiment than a fully developed project.\nDespite its limitations, there is a certain clarity in what Sad Virus Asia attempts to do. It does not try to be complex or expansive, instead offering a simple, low-commitment experience that can be completed in a single sitting. For players who enjoy exploring unconventional indie titles or who are looking for something extremely casual, it may provide a brief moment of engagement.\nUltimately, Sad Virus Asia is defined by its simplicity and lack of ambition.
