Gemini is a challenging action game with many weapons to choose from and unique enemies and bosses. However, the clunky controls may make you want to rage quit.

","score":60,"kind":"rating"},{"ref":"steam:227821624","audience":"player","origin":"steam","author":"","url":"","language":"en","publishedAt":"2026-06-12T21:53:29.000Z","title":"","text":"Gemini is an indie hybrid of tower defense, roguelite progression, and top-down action shooting that aims to make players an active participant in every battle rather than a passive overseer of automated defenses. Developed by Gagonfe, Ulon, and Rhowsl, and published by Gagonfe, the game revolves around protecting a vital crystal from increasingly dangerous enemy assaults while simultaneously ensuring your own survival. This simple premise forms the foundation of a gameplay loop that is easy to understand but capable of delivering a surprisingly engaging challenge.\nUnlike traditional tower defense titles where success often depends on placing structures and waiting for them to eliminate threats, Gemini constantly encourages direct involvement. Players move across the battlefield, attack enemies, collect resources, and react to changing situations in real time. Every wave demands attention because threats can come from multiple directions, forcing players to balance offensive actions with defensive responsibilities. The need to protect both the crystal and the player character creates a welcome sense of urgency that keeps encounters exciting from beginning to end.\nThe game offers a respectable amount of content through its collection of worlds, stages, and enemy waves. Progression feels steady as new environments introduce stronger opponents and more demanding situations. What initially appears to be a straightforward defense game gradually reveals additional layers of strategy as players learn how different enemy types behave and which upgrades work best against specific threats. The escalating difficulty ensures that victories feel earned rather than automatic.\nA major strength of Gemini lies in its extensive upgrade and equipment system. The large selection of obtainable gear encourages experimentation, allowing players to shape their own approach to combat. Some builds focus on overwhelming firepower, while others emphasize survivability, crowd control, or defensive efficiency. Discovering effective combinations and adapting them to new challenges becomes one of the most satisfying aspects of the experience. The roguelite-inspired progression gives every run a sense of unpredictability, making repeated playthroughs more enjoyable than they might otherwise be.\nCombat remains fast and responsive throughout the adventure. The twin-stick shooter mechanics are simple but effective, creating battles that require movement, positioning, and situational awareness. Enemy waves gradually become more intense, culminating in boss encounters that serve as meaningful tests of skill and preparation. These larger battles often require players to fully utilize their upgrades and knowledge of the game's systems, adding excitement and variety to the overall campaign.\nVisually, Gemini embraces a colorful pixel-art presentation that suits its arcade-inspired gameplay. Gemini is an indie hybrid of tower defense, roguelite progression, and top-down action shooting that aims to make players an active participant in every battle rather than a passive overseer of automated defenses. Developed by Gagonfe, Ulon, and Rhowsl, and published by Gagonfe, the game revolves around protecting a vital crystal from increasingly dangerous enemy assaults while simultaneously ensuring your own survival. This simple premise forms the foundation of a gameplay loop that is easy to understand but capable of delivering a surprisingly engaging challenge.

Unlike traditional tower defense titles where success often depends on placing structures and waiting for them to eliminate threats, Gemini constantly encourages direct involvement. Players move across the battlefield, attack enemies, collect resources, and react to changing situations in real time. Every wave demands attention because threats can come from multiple directions, forcing players to balance offensive actions with defensive responsibilities. The need to protect both the crystal and the player character creates a welcome sense of urgency that keeps encounters exciting from beginning to end.

The game offers a respectable amount of content through its collection of worlds, stages, and enemy waves. Progression feels steady as new environments introduce stronger opponents and more demanding situations. What initially appears to be a straightforward defense game gradually reveals additional layers of strategy as players learn how different enemy types behave and which upgrades work best against specific threats. The escalating difficulty ensures that victories feel earned rather than automatic.

A major strength of Gemini lies in its extensive upgrade and equipment system. The roguelite-inspired progression gives every run a sense of unpredictability, making repeated playthroughs more enjoyable than they might otherwise be.

Combat remains fast and responsive throughout the adventure. The twin-stick shooter mechanics are simple but effective, creating battles that require movement, positioning, and situational awareness. Enemy waves gradually become more intense, culminating in boss encounters that serve as meaningful tests of skill and preparation. These larger battles often require players to fully utilize their upgrades and knowledge of the game's systems, adding excitement and variety to the overall campaign.
