about simpler times. ^^\nIntroduction\nCloudgazer: A Game About Watching Clouds is a cozy, sky-gazing simulator, hidden object game developed and published by DevilishGames. Imagine lying on your back in the grass on a hill with your longtime friend, and as you gaze at the sky and the passing clouds, your friend recalls a time when you could just take it easy and find fun shapes in the clouds. That's what Cloudgazer is, in a nutshell. As you look at the sky and the clouds, you may identify shapes ranging from dinosaurs to dogs. As you progress in the number of unique shapes, your friend continues their thoughts.\nAs for the gameplay, it's pretty much a point-and-click game in which you click on objects that you find in the sky. In a way, it's like a HOG since there can be a bit of a challenge in distinguishing the object from the fluffy clouds. There are a total of 250 unique objects to find, and Steam achievements are present although they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of \"Steam is learning about this game\".\nReview\nFeeling in the mood to play a relaxing game after being stressed out and annoyed over another game, Cloudgazer caught my attention, and I thought that it would be the perfect one. Did it meet my hopes? Let's find out. ^^\nStory and Gameplay\nThe story itself is very simple. While your character never has any lines in the game, your friend occasionally comments about finding shapes in the clouds and such. It sets the relaxing mood very well, getting you to remember a time when you could just look up at the sky without a care in the world. I miss the simpler times, so this game is great as reminding you of them.\nOf course, it's the gameplay that's the main focus here. While some of the objects are fairly distinguishable and easy to find, others can be a bit more obscure. You can miss clicking on objects, but thankfully, they do return. A game that lets you reminisce about simpler times. ^^

Introduction

Cloudgazer: A Game About Watching Clouds is a cozy, sky-gazing simulator, hidden object game developed and published by DevilishGames. As you progress in the number of unique shapes, your friend continues their thoughts.

As for the gameplay, it's pretty much a point-and-click game in which you click on objects that you find in the sky. In a way, it's like a HOG since there can be a bit of a challenge in distinguishing the object from the fluffy clouds. There are a total of 250 unique objects to find, and Steam achievements are present although they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "Steam is learning about this game".

Review

Feeling in the mood to play a relaxing game after being stressed out and annoyed over another game, Cloudgazer caught my attention, and I thought that it would be the perfect one. Did it meet my hopes? Let's find out. ^^

Story and Gameplay

The story itself is very simple. While your character never has any lines in the game, your friend occasionally comments about finding shapes in the clouds and such. It sets the relaxing mood very well, getting you to remember a time when you could just look up at the sky without a care in the world. I miss the simpler times, so this game is great as reminding you of them.

Of course, it's the gameplay that's the main focus here. While some of the objects are fairly distinguishable and easy to find, others can be a bit more obscure. You can miss clicking on objects, but thankfully, they do return. There's only one speed at which the clouds move, but I felt like the speed was fine. I would have liked if there had been a way to adjust the speed, but as I mentioned, even if you miss an object, it will come back. All Steam achievements are obtainable, and thankfully, there is no timer, so you can take as much time as you want. However, there is no windowed mode. Well, you can press Alt+Enter to force the game screen into windowed mode, but you can't manually adjust the screen size, which is unfortunate. I like to play games in windowed mode for multi-task purposes. XD

(Oh, I should mention as well that in the nighttime scenes, there are shooting stars that you can click and the game keeps track of how many you find. However, I didn't understand the purpose of clicking them, unless it's for bragging rights. :o)

Art and Sound

The art style is simple as well. You basically look at the clouds and the ever-changing sky as it goes from sunrise to sunset. I like this animation, and the change from daytime to nighttime was great. The nighttime scenes were especially my favorite.

As for the music, none is present and even though it might be a bit unusual, I feel like it's realistic, as you enjoy the peace and quiet that comes with gazing at the clouds. There is the occasional soft wind and a quiet sound effect plays when you click on an object.

Conclusion

Would I recommend Cloudgazer: A Game About Watching Clouds? If you're looking for a cozy, relaxing game that's on the short side and/or you enjoy finding fairly easily obtainable Steam achievements, then this is totally worth a try. I found it to be very destressing and calming.

Wrapping things up, I'd like to thank DevilishGames for the review copy. Cloudgazer was the game that I definitely needed, and it's perfect for unwinding after a busy, hectic day. ^^
